John Dickson & Son

The firm of John Dickson & Son was established in Edinburgh in 1820 and today is the oldest gunmaker in Scotland. The company gained fame through its iconic Round-Action gun, a uniquely Scottish trigger plate mechanism that was designed in 1880 and is admired by avid sportsmen for its ingenuity, strength, elegance and balance. The company has grown tremendously over the past two centuries and now incorporates several other renowned Scottish gun and rifle makers. This has enabled Dickson’s to reintroduce the classic Daniel Fraser lightweight stalking rifles and James MacNaughton Skeleton guns, both prime examples of Scottish ingenuity, heritage and gun making tradition.
